Amazing 4K HDR picture quality, great value
Reviewed on www.walmart.com·Dr Notes
I have been itching to upgrade to a 4K projector with 3D for some time now. My old Panasonic PT-AE4000U turned 10 this year and it has served me well in the 1080p world. The Epson Home Cinema 3800 is an excellent pixel shifting 4K/3D projector for the money.\r\n\r\nThe projector is very securely packed and includes a good size 38 button backlit remote, not the tiny remote that comes with many projectors. Many control options have direct access to control them on the remote; HDR, Color, Aspect, HDMI input selection, playback controls, test pattern, 3D and many more. Having a button for remote backlighting can come in handy in a dark theater. I actually programmed my universal remote with the 3800 as an additional device and then the remote went into my expansive remote graveyard lol.\r\n\r\nThe only other hardware included in the box are the power cord and batteries for the remote. Disappointing that there are no 3D glasses included, but 3D has definitely fallen out of favor over the last several years and I'm not sure if any projectors include them in the box anymore. There are quick setup brochures in four languages and some other small pamphlets, but no owner's manual. That is pretty standard with most products today since the full manual is very easy to download, saves trees I guess. I removed the packing materials, including foam protection around the lens for shipping as well as a clip-on lens cover, nice touches to protect the delicate lens. Then I hung it upside down from a ceiling mount and located the setting in the menus under Extended to set it to Front Ceiling. There are actually 4 options in that menu for the possible combinations of Front and Rear projection and table or ceiling mount. I did not test the speakers as I have an AVR with full 11.2.4 Atmos speaker setup. The (10W each) speakers do give an added flexibility for other installation scenarios.\r\n\r\nMy old projector was black and I was slightly disappointed that the Epson consumer projectors are only available in white. It is a bit more noticable when the lights are on, but when in actual use it disappears just like my previous black unit. It is a very high quality, sturdy unit with modern styling. It has 2 HDMI ports and 2 USB ports, although one of those USBs is only for a WiFi adapter and the other is only to provide power for HDMI stick devices that require USB power. It does put out a bit of heat from the front vent.\r\n\r\nThe most outstanding feature of 3800 is the 4k image processing and projection, the picture quality and options for tweaking the picture are where it truly shines. It is not native 4k, but it takes a 4k image and creates two 1080p frames and slightly shifts pixels very quickly to produce the appearance of 4k image without the raw 3LCD system being native 4k. Watching 4k films on a 10 foot screen, the resolution enhancements over 1080p with no HDR was awesome. The sharpness and brightness improvements were dramatic over my previous projector. The 3800 is a simply amazing value and comes with a 2 year warranty.\r\n\r\nI ordered 3D glasses and tried a few titles and they were all super crisp and clear with excellent 3D effects. The glasses paired with the 3800 first time automatically when there was 3D material on screen, just had to power them on. There was a confirmation message on screen after about 5 seconds to confirm the pairing of each. I did not see any artifacts or have any issues, just a high quality 3D experience with great depth and focus.\r\n\r\nThe Epson has an amazing range of color adjustments and comes with some preprogramed presets that are accessible under Image Enhancements. Epson has full control of HDR tweaks for Auto/SDR/HDR10/HLG, including a level; as well as RGBCMY for hue, saturation, and brightness. You have the myriad options to tune the picture to your liking. There are 10 Memory slots to save different picture settings customizations, you could have one for daytime, one for nighttime, one for 3D, one for HDR material, etc. The zoom, focus, keystone and lens shift vertical and horizontal are all manual adjustments using the controls on the projector itself. To get a 4K projector that has those adjustments automated is literally at least 3 times the cost at this point in time.\r\n\r\nEpson's Home Cinema 3800 had amazing picture quality for all kinds of video material. I never saw any rainbows or other artifacts from the pixel shifting 3LCD system. The picture was always crisp, clear with excellent brightness and contrast, especially with HDR sources. It is a great value for those looking to upgrade to a 4K projector at a very reasonable price, highly recommended! I was totally honest in my opinions of the 3800 pros and cons, full disclosure this is a review for the Epson Home Cinema 3800 projector that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.

Incredible, feature- rich, projector at a great value!
Reviewed on www.walmart.com·The Fog
I have been using an Epson Powerlite Home Cinema 3020 for many years. It has been a fantastic projector for me and is still going strong with no issues during the life of the projector. I have been impressed with the Epson line of projectors, as they provide some of the best performance for the money. I was excited to now get the opportunity to try out a new Epson projector with 4K, the Epson Home Cinema 3800 4K PRO-UHD 3-Chip Projector with HDR. The transition to 4K is unbelievable and well worth the upgrade.\r\n\r\nI have a dedicated media room with the projector mounted on the ceiling projecting to a 120 inch screen. Set up is relatively simple and the projector can be mounted off center and adjusted accordingly with strong image quality in my tests. The projector has a number of settings to allow you to easily find the right settings for your room. The remote is more dynamic than a typical remote with many different adjustments and settings readily available and a very handy backlight.\r\n\r\nWe use our projector primarily for movies and sports. The performance of the Epson 3800 exceeded my expectations. As noted in the specs, this projector has Epson's advanced 3LCD technology. As a result, this projector delivers on providing an incredible RGB color signal without any “rainbow effect” or color brightness issues that you may experience with DLP projectors. With 3LCD, the picture is incredibly sharp. Brightness was perfect with 3,000 lumens for both color and white brightness with great color accuracy. The noise level of the projector is minimal, even in 4K mode. Speaking of 4K, Epson's pixel shifting technology for 4K resolution processing works beautifully. The picture quality for this price range projector is amazing. \r\n\r\nThe projector also includes built in speakers. So, it is easily portable and can be quickly set up and enjoyed outside as well. In summary, what sets Epson projectors apart from the competition is that they provide incredible, feature- rich, high performing projectors for a great price from a brand you can trust. The Epson Home Cinema 3800 is no exception. This is a review for the Epson Home Cinema 3800 projector that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.

Superior alternative to large TV
Reviewed on www.walmart.com·chicokim
I just moved from a condo to a house and I was looking for options to replace my old 50” TV, which would be quite small for the bigger family room at the new house. I considered buying a larger TV (maybe something in the 60s or 70s), but I realized that in order to take full advantage of the more ample space available, a projector would be a better choice. It allows me to use a wide open wall in the hallway that would otherwise not be used in any functional way, and as a result it would let me optimize the layout of the family room by allowing more freedom on where to place the room's furniture. \r\n\r\nI was interested in Epson's 3800 projector primarily because of its image quality (4K technology was compelling), but there were a few other attributes that were just as important to me: (1) the ability to freely adjust the screen size to allow versatility to project in different places in the house; (2) the ability to point the projection “off center” (in other words, having sufficient range to move the screen both horizontally and vertically), since the location where I'll install the wall mounted shelf for the projector is not center-aligned with the wall where I'll project; and (3) strong brightness so the image is naturally visible even with a lot of natural light coming into the family room. \r\n\r\nAs I tried the product, I was amazed by the high quality of the image and how it addressed every one of my needs mentioned above. I was concerned about how images would look directly on the textured wall (unfortunately walls in the house are not smooth) and thought that I may need a drop-down screen, but it looked fantastic just like that! And I'm thrilled that instead of a 60-70” TV placed on a sub-optimal part of the room, I now have a 100” screen that allows me to configure the room to my liking and has comparable image quality to a new LED TV model. I am ecstatic about the projector and would highly recommend to anyone looking to replace a smaller TV or add a larger screen. \r\n\r\nThis is a review for the Epson Home Cinema 3800 projector that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.

I was completely surprised when I found out how large this projector is. I hadn't paid much attention to the dimensions or weight of the unit until I purchased it and notice how large the box was. This unit was recommended by a reputable source as one of the best home theater projectors on the market. So, I made my decision based on that information and it's cost. There was another Epson projector that was recommended as being better but it was $1000 more. I owned a Panasonic PT-L500U HDTV Projector for over 17 years and it went out on me and at the time I purchased it, it was the best on the market. The technological advances over the years required not only a new projector but a new A/V receiver and other components. As stated in the beginning, the size of this projector was so much larger than the Panasonic projector (weight 7 lbs vs 25 lbs) that I was tempted to replace it with a smaller projector but the cost/value/capabilities weren't there. After setting up the projector it was easy to adjust the lens, however, I still don't have the keystone set properly. The color and vividness of the projector was great. I would recommend purchasing a tuning DVD to get the colors and contrast optimized. I noticed a considerable improvement in picture quality after calibrating the unit. The cost of a DVD is minimal, at around $20, relative to the benefit. The DVDs I purchased were “Digital Video Essentials” and “Disney WOW” both are great at optimizing the projector. In fact, a calibration DVD should be provided by the Projector OEM. They also should provide printed Owners Manuals that would make the set-up much easier. I noticed my previous components all included printed Owners Manuals, the ones I purchased nowadays don't. Overall, I would definitely recommend this projector but make sure you have a steady mount.

Perfect balance of performance and price
Reviewed on www.walmart.com·epekor
This our first home theater projector, and all we can say is wow! We wish we added this to our home entertainment setup far sooner. Crisp, beautiful colors, deep blacks. Just as good in broad daylight as it is in a dark room. The 3000 lumens is a big hit. \r\nLike some other reviews have mentioned, it takes a bit to dial-in settings, but once that's done, it's a thing of beauty. No different from any quality display. \r\n\r\nA few things that we especially love: \r\n* The flexibility. This is great to travel with on family vacations. The fact that we bring such an awesome display with us on road trips is a game changer!\r\n* The built-in speakers make it easy to use it outside for the kids as they enjoy a movie night with friends. \r\n* The 4K resolution never fails to impress. \r\n* People have mixed feelings on 3D, but our kids LOVE it! Just note: you need EPSON 3D glasses to enjoy 3D. We didn't know that initially, but worth it when we added the glasses. \r\n* Works well with our FireTV cube. \r\n* We're able to shoot the projector off-center (horizontal and vertical) without any significant warp to screen resolutions. Keystone adjustments are easy enough. \r\n* It doesn't get particularly hot and it isn't noisy, especially on ECO mode. \r\n\r\nBluetooth pairing with our Denon AVR-X2500 worked smoothly, but we did experience pairing issues with a Vizio B362 soundbar. YMMV. \r\n\r\nAlso note, if you want a big screen (12' +) you'll need to place the projector a roughly the same distance from the screen. This isn't a short-throw projector.\r\n\r\nAll-in-all, Epson nailed the balance of performance and convenience with this projector package. We love everything about this projector. \r\n\r\nThis is a review for the Epson Home Cinema 3800 projector that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.

I got this specific model...
Reviewed on www.walmart.ca·Charles
I got this specific model because of the zoom and horizontal keystone, because I wanted to set it on my mantle instead of a table or installing a mount, which is a little offset from where I wanted to project to. It can get an image that's not noticeably crooked or distorted even if it's not perpendicular to the wall or screen. \n\nThe image itself is bright enough for all but the darkest scenes to be fully visible during daylight, and I can have a lamp on and not miss anything on screen once it's dark out. The colors look great, and it's a clear, full HD image. I'm really happy with the brightness and contrast, movies look awesome on it. When I set it to bright mode, the fan started getting noticeably loud, but on ECO it's a reasonable amount of noise and the picture was still bright enough for pretty much every use.\n\nIt doesn't have all the high end features, it's not 4K or HDR, but projectors featuring those cost twice as much. I noticed some motion blur when watching sports and an action scene with a shaky cam, but again, going above 60 hz is not something you should expect from a projector in this price range. The built in speakers are very tinny, and there is only a 3.5 mm audio jack out, so plan on some new speakers or a cable to an existing amp. The new models have bluetooth and it feels like Bluetooth and having built in streaming instead of using any of the Roku/Apple TV/Fire Sticks that are available for $30 are the main improvements they made with the new model.\n\nI did a lot of research and I'm happy with this one so far. Any projector under $1,000 is going to have some limitations, but I have no complaints that weren't expected and I'm really impressed with the picture. What this does well is more important than knockoff HDR or "4K support" on a 1080p image.

I just upgraded to the Epson 3700 and the colors and picture are beautiful. I had a higher lumen projector but recently learned about color Lumens. Found out my previous one although 3400 lumens was only putting out about 1100 color Lumens which explains why I was baffled that the white could get blinding bright but still picture could not get bright enough for us while gaming in the daytime. I have an alr screen to help but needed help with the projector and the Epson 3700 is the ticket! Dark screen no problem for this projector in a lot of ambient light. No more needing to turn out all the lights and close all the window blinds to enjoy watching on your big screen!! Another bonus is that the cushion you have for distance is huge as well as fine tuning with lens shift is not appreciated until you try it! These things I normally wouldn't care about in this case because once I mount it on the ceiling I don't need to touch it however if you plan on moving it for the outdoor party or elsewhere once in a while, consider that bonus! \r\n\r\nOnly problem now is that we end up watching on the projector waaaaaay more than we normally would. Also if it had a switch outlet for motorized screen that wouldve been nice however not a deal breaker by any means. \r\n\r\nAll I can say is Who needs TVs with a projector like this?? If done all over again, there would be no TVs in the house. Time will tell the hours I get out of the lamp but the replacements are reasonable so I'm not concerned about it as long it is a reasonable amount. In the world of projectors it can get very frustrating and confusing. If you want a nice quality projector in this price range from all that I've seen will be very hard to beat!

Well I had a lengthy review before I accidentally refreshed the screen... So here is the short version.\n\nCeiling mounted, 8 feet from screen, HDMI sound extractor, and sound bar with woofer. \n\nMovies: excellent quality. I've played dvds and bluray from ma PS4, PS5, and Bluray player. 1990s and earlier movies have a certain mechanic graininess to them from how they were originally filmed. Jurassic Park looked like how it did when I saw it in theaters when it came out. \n\nGaming has almost zero latency even with zoom and keystone correction. I've played 10+ different consoles on it. No issues. Currently playing PC on it via Steam. I plays best with 1280x720 because text gets too small for my taste. Sound was a tricky. I prefer gaming with Wi-Fi headphones. I use Linux so HDMI sound is glitchy on the Nvidia GTX 1650 with the 580 driver. Its better to Bluetooth to a sound bar than extract from HDMI on my case. Don't Bluetooth audio while watching movies or of YouTube. \n\nThe projector gets loud sometimes when brightness is up from running I daytime, specifically morning when the sun hits the windows. \n\nThe onboard speaker is terrible but it's not ment to be for cinema use. \n\nScreen mirroring works great. Use the app. Miracast isnt native on this model. iProjector app is good. Turn off auto-source scanning to clear up disconnect issues if you have an HDMI switch box. \n\nSharpness and brightness is excellent when adjusted correctly.

Had the Home Cinema 2000, it started to work to a level of not meeting my expectations, switched to the Home Cinema 2100 and there is a world of difference. The display is brighter (the 2000 has 1800 lumens, whereas the 2100 has 2500 lumens) and the biggest most impressive difference, the 2100 is as quiet as a mouse on Christmas Eve, its so quiet I have forgot to turn the projector off a couple of times. Going from the 2000 where the operating noise level was nearly equivalent to a lawnmower (exaggerated a bit, but ... not really) to the 2100 where the operating noise level is equivalent to a regular television. The size of the actual machine is a bit bigger, but this difference is slightly noticeable honestly. OVERALL ... love it so far, have had it for a month, best decision in the last month (other than buying and selling stocks, like literally the stock market was VERY GOOD, GREAT to me) but this machine has been VERY GOOD, GREAT to me too. Ending 2020 on a good note, after 2020 has been a difficult year. Recommend buying this machine, it is a world of difference when replacing a lower model number or purchasing a projector for the first time. \n\nENJOY !

Great alternative to 3D TV
Reviewed on www.walmart.com·Kboard
Was looking for a replacement for my 3D tv and stumbled into the projector market. Really happy with this discovery! This Epson projector works great; the image setup was a breeze with the ability to easily adjust the pictures size, and horizontal/vertical position. Check the Epson website for a Projection Distance Calculator that will tell you how far back from the screen the projector needs to be to achieve your desired screen size. It will also shows you how far you can adjust the horizontal/vertical position of the image based on your specified distance from the screen. Link here: https://epson.com/Support/wa00814\r\n\r\nAs for movie playback: The image is crisp once you adjust the focus, the color spectrum looks great, and the brightness is just right even on economy mode. I should note: I can block any incident light from hitting my screen, if I was to watch in a well lit room with daylight hitting the screen, I would likely have to turn the economy mode off.\r\n\r\nMy only complaint (and docked a star for this) would be the lack of Wi-Fi in this projector. You will need an attached wireless player or Roku stick to watch online media. Aside from the wireless connectivity this projector has all the features you need. \r\n\r\nI do have a sound bar connected to my Blu-ray player, but was surprised to find the projector has pretty decent sound on its own. I like the added bass of my soundbar and woofer, but the projector's built in speakers are adequate if you don't want to invest in better sound.\r\n\r\nIn closing, I'm totally happy with my purchase and would recommend this projector to others.

Great Inexpensive Alternative for streaming movies at home
Reviewed on www.walmart.com·defaultForRating
We love movies and don't go to brick and mortar theaters anymore for a number of reasons. We have been using home projection for over 6 years now and our first projector of choice was Epson PowerLite 1450 which we loved. Unfortunately. it had to be replaced. After studying what is now available we went with Home Cinema 3800. It is slightly larger and heavier, but we don't intend to move it around (We have a smaller more portable Epson Projector as well - EX 7230). The 3800 has 3,000 lumens of brightness while the 1450 had 4200. There wasn't an alternate that was in our acceptable price range. On the positive side, it has an outstanding picture quality and also can show 3D movies which we promptly purchased the required 3d glasses. We already own a 3d Blu-ray player . It has been fun watching the Hobbit, Avatar, and Top Gun Maverick in 3D. Very exciting. The 3800 is quieter which is important because it is positioned very close to us. For sound, we don't rely on its two speakers because we've always plugged it into our Soundbar system and receive great sound! So we are able to stream movies and TV ate our 100 inch screen.

I only use it on eco cinema mode which is bright enough.\r\nI was having trouble with the fire stick. It keep resetting fire tv stick because it did not have enough power going to it. After A few auto resets it would stay stable. It did this on both usb inputs. I was able to fix problem by installing a usb power cable from amazon. This did the trick. \r\nThe only thing I did not like was that when picture gets dark/scenes you can see a red dot on the screen. Notice it after a few days of using it. I've been searching online and I've read that it could be a fixed pixel or dust in the red inner lenses.

We bought our first projector 11 years ago and had loved it! After time the picture began dimming and we hadn't realized how the quality had degraded til told by my bro that the picture sucked. So…did some research and bought this unit. The brightness and clarity on our 139” screen is just awesome!!! We love it. Setup wasn't too complicated and we hope to enjoy it for another decade!! Blows away a tv…it's like going to the movies at our own house!!

I bought this projector for slideshows by our non-profit community chorus. We had limited funds, and so I was pleasantly very pleased with the quality of the projector. Features such as rear-screen projection, keystone control, both vertical and horizontal, zoom, etc were all used. And projection onto a 135 inch screen was easily viewable even in a church with all the lights on.

I selected this projector to replace an aging optoma model I had. I wanted to increase the screen size from 78 inches to over 100 inches, as well have it still be watchable in a bright room during the day light hours. the epson HC3700 does this in spades even in "ECO mode" extremely happy with the picture. any one looking to cover criteria like these will not be disappointed!

Fabulous unit...Best Buy met the matching sale price on a refurbished one from Epson for a BRAND NEW unit with full warranty. The service rep walked me through signing up for 24 months financing no interest. Couldn't have been a smoother transaction. Unit showed up as promised 3 days later. Bought the mounting bracket for it separately, was in stock.

Bought this projector for home and business entertainment about a month ago. I was not interested in paying for features I did not need. This projector was perfect. For movies From 15' to the screen it give brightness, sharpness and color that is almost equal to a LCD TV. In 16:9 it produces a picture that is around 15' wide. Great projector. Thanks Epson.
